Clinics are taught by current team members. Participants are taught the beginner level of jump rope skills and must demonstrate a level of competency to pass off the skills. New team members may join the team by passing off the basic level of skills taught during clinic classes. We are always open to new team members.
JOINING THE TEAM- Practice team: This team is designed to provide athletes with continued growth within the sport. Athletes will be taught skills that will challenge their current level and work in groups to develop team skills. Participants on this team will not be required to attend shows or competitions. This team is the entry level for individuals moving from clinic classes to team as well as those that are not yet interested in performing/competing or who want more flexibility to participate in jump rope but are also involved in other activities that pull them away from consistent practice attendance. An athlete on this team could participate half year in practices. (Example: athlete plays football in the fall and then participates in jump rope January to May.) Practice time is Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm
Performance Team: This team is similar to the Practice team but will also provide the opportunity to participate in local performances. Athletes will not be required to attend all performances. It is recommended that athletes on this team participate September to May. Practice time is Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm
*Both Practice and Performance team will participate in a rookie tournament that our team will host each spring. This is an opportunity for these team members to show off their skills and compete against other individuals of their similar skill level.
Competitive Team: This team has a more competitive centered focus. This team can participate in performances as well as competition. Joining this team is by invitation and reaching a certain level of skill and reliability. The team will choose 1-2 spring competitions that athletes on this team will commit to participating in. (This team does not compete at the National or World levels.) Athletes on this team are ready, both physically and mentally to move to the next stage of our sport. They are committed to showing up to practice and working with their teams in a positive way for group success. Practice time is Thursdays 4:30-6:30pm (½ crossover with the Elite team for speed and endurance training), Saturdays 9-10am January- May.
Elite Team: This team consists of athletes who are committed to jump rope as their extracurricular activity. They will lead a majority of the performances, participate in spring tournaments, nationals, and in the odd years, AMJRF trials and IJRU worlds. The Elite team is by invitation only. Once athletes reach a certain level of skill and have shown themselves to be reliable and dedicated, they will be invited to join this team. Practice time is Mondays 4:30-6:30pm, Thursdays 5:45-8pm, Saturdays 7-9am
